Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located at Jiaomuchaka of the Shuanghu-Chasang region in the northern part of Tibet. It was named by Wu Ruizhong et al., in 1986. Middle formation of Kamrbo Gr.


Lithology and Thickness

Clastics and Volcanics. Composed of grey-brown conglomerate, dark-grey bio-limestone, grey-green pillow basalt and conglomeritic limestone, with a thickness of over 2600 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Unconformable contact with the underlying Jiaomuchaka Fm

Upper contact

Next younger unit is the Ninggongqujiulong Fm in this region

Regional extent

Distributed in the Shuanghu Lake area where the Kamrbo Gr is distributed [see the explanation on the Kamrbo Gr (P2 (57)) in this document/website; and Xiaohelihe Gr (C2-P2 (17))]

Fossils

Yields abundant Fusulinid fossils such as Verbeekina, Neoschwagerina, Metadoliolina, Schwagerina, Eopolydiexodina; and Brachiopods such as Enteletina, Marginifera, Spinomarginifera, Martinia, Plicatifera, which are similar to that of the fauna of the Maokou Fm in South China region.
